Awana Children

Awana is a national ministry which teaches verse memorization and large group lessons. In addition, each meeting contains a game time. Awana meets Wednesday nights from 6:25 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is open to children aged 3 through 6th grade.

Sunday School Children

Each Sunday morning, Walnut Creek Community Church has sunday school classes for children from age 3 through 5th grade. The goal of our Sunday school program is to teach children the truth found in the Bible starting at a young age. Our Sunday school classes are a fun way for children grow in their knowledge of God.

Upward Sports Children

Upward is a national program that teaches character, self-esteem, biblical lessons, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the fundamentals of the game. Nationally, there are over 400,000 kids involved in Upward leagues. In every Upward league, every child is a winner. All participants have equal playing time and teams are divided equally to maximize every child’s opportunity to learn and thrive in soccer, basketball or cheerleading. Central City Soccer Children

Each Summer, since 2005, Walnut Creek has sponsored a children’s soccer league in central Des Moines. The Central City Soccer league provides an opportunity for church members to volunteer and for children in the area to develop their soccer skills in an environment that encourages good sportsmanship and honorable character.

Parent-Teen Ministry Teens

Walnut Creek’s parent-teen ministry meets Saturday evenings at 5 p.m. at the church building in Windsor Heights. Parents and their teens are invited to join for a time of worship and teaching from 5-6:30 p.m. Afterward, stay around and enjoy food, fun, and games.

High-School Campus Bible Studies Teens

WCCC encourages high school students to invite their friends to Bible studies with other students from their school. The Bible studies are evening gatherings for specific public high schools in the Des Moines area. Partnering with Youth for Christ, ministries are currently running for Hoover and Roosevelt students. These groups allow classmates to connect with one another through discussing real and relevant topics from the Bible

Campus Fellowship College

Walnut Creek Community Church has active ministries at various local colleges and universities. The goal of Campus Fellowship is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to college aged students; to provide opportunities for students to grow in their relationship with the Lord through Bible studies, service projects, and missions; and to lay a foundation in students’ lives that will set them up for an entire life of seeking and serving God.

Community Bible Studies Adult/Community

At Walnut Creek, Bible studies are a way to go deeper in our relationships with God and each other. We have many Bible studies to suit your unique pace and stage in life. There are Bible studies uniquely set up for women, men, young adults, college students, and teens. If you are interested in getting to know God more completely and in serving Him in a greater way with your life, we encourage you to get involved.

Mom's Circle Adult/Community

Mom’s Circle is a ministry designed to encourage and strengthen mothers of young children. Childcare is provided and often a meal is served for the mothers. Our schedule changes slightly from season to season so check the church calendar to see when we meet next.

Drop-in Adult/Community

Each week on Tuesdays from 10:30am-noon, the seniors of Walnut Creek get together for "Drop-In" at the church building for a time of fellowship with each other. Come drop in and enjoy the company of friends.

S.T.A.R.S. Adult/Community

"Seniors Talking About Reaching Seniors," or S.T.A.R.S., is a potluck luncheon with a program. STARS stands for Seniors Talking About Reaching Seniors. It is a ministry for seniors to come together and talk about how they can reach out to other people who are in their similar stage in life. We meet the first Friday of each month September through May. Check the calendar to see when we meet next.
